Hello hello, and welcome to my very first blog post! I just want to provide a recap/update/new information real quick: my name’s Emilia. I’m a full time grad student at Western University in London, Ontario and I study childhood obesity and food environment. I also teach yoga part time on campus (2 classes a week, Tuesdays and Fridays at 1pm if you’re in the area and interested!) and I did my yoga teacher training just under a year ago in Rishikesh, India. I have an Etsy shop where I sell clean cosmetics, free of nasty chemicals, and I have now officially taken the leap to start a blog!
I'm very much a "big picture" kind of person. I love grad school, but I'm finding that I pour so much energy into one very specific project so I’ve been feeling lately like I have so many broad interests and ideas that I don’t have an outlet to explore. I've been a blogger at heart for as long as I can remember, and I always managed to find some reason not to start. But somehow, I just knew I'd end up here. Starting this journey feels a bit like coming home. All of the "it's a waste of time's" and "I can't share my feelings online's" and "who will even care's" don't seem like nearly such a big deal now. This is for me, ad hopefully some are inspired or given pause or cheered for along the way.
My hope is that this blog is an extension of the introspection that I've found comes with my yoga page on Instagram that I started about six months ago. Here, I will be able to dive deeper into topics that I care about, without a character limit.
And what is it that I care about? Primarily, topics will fall under the health and wellness umbrella, in a holistic sense. In no particular order, I enjoy traveling, wine, women’s health, FBI shows, nutrition and recipes, yoga, journaling, Disney movies, podcasts, spirituality, plants, espresso (the drink and the experience), the Bachelor franchise, arts and crafts, neutral colours, Christmas, self-care, music, science (especially human physiology), relationships, meditation, and sleeping in. It’s a good bet that at least some of these themes will come up (some more likely than others).
Anyway, I’ll keep this first one short and sweet, but this is a bit of an introduction to me and what I do and the space I hope this blog will fill. I’m really excited to start this new passion project and I’m super grateful for all of you for showing up, whether it’s to read my blog or come to my yoga classes or follow my Instagram or support me in my personal life.
Love, Emilia
